The film is based on an inspiring true story, which centers on the seemingly unbelievable journey of a young Scottish man, John Davidson. His life was irrevocably changed as a teenager when his body was taken over by Tourette syndrome, a condition that can quickly crush even the most resilient person's spirit. In this situation, a person needs the support of those closest to them, but that support was not easy to find in the 1980s, when even doctors did not understand the condition.
